12/30/09: Manship Theatre, Baton Rouge

We played the Manship to a sold out crowd. It's a great theatre and the staff and crew are great. It was nice to play again since our last date, which was in early November. We didn't get to party too much after the show, however: early flights in the morning to Chicago. [Posted with iBlogger from my iPhone]

Tarrytown Music Hall, 11/13/09

I think it was the band's first trip to the Music Hall, but some say otherwise. Anyway, the show was a double-bill with Iris Dement. Iris played for about 50 minutes and then we hit the stage for an hour and a half. Our special guest was Roswell Rudd. He's simply amazing. The crowd was enthusiastic, and we had a very good time. APHC, 11/7/09, Des Moines, IA

The Prairie Home show was good: the music was, as usual, well done, and we got to perform 3 songs plus an encore after the radio signed off. We also joined in on 2 numbers with the Shoe Band (with me on Uke). We also found out we'll be on the Western Caribbean cruise in March 2010, departing from Tampa. CSPS Cedar Rapids, 11/6/09

Cedar Rapids went under the flood waters of the Mississippi in June of '08. The city is trying to rebuild, and you know it's not easy, waiting for insurance and Federal monies. The show was good, with Tom Erickson as an opener, to a crowd of about 114 Cedar Rapids arts fans. The band played a solid hour and 45 minute set. We all hope Cedar Rapids gets back on its feet and that we can come back. [Posted with iBlogger from my iPhone]

Glen Echo Fall Dance Festival, 10/17 - 18/09

Date: October 19, 2009 8:48 AM Topic: Glen Echo Fall Dance Festival, 10/17 - 18/09 The Glen Echo Fall Dance Festival was fun. It was unfortunate that the weather was so bad (rain and cold) but those in attendance seemed to have no problems. Talk about dancers! It was a nonstop event. Glen Echo Park looks great, and it's a lot of fun to play in the Spanish Ballroom. We all look forward to our next show there.

Solar Decathlon, 10/16/09

Date: October 17, 2009 9:07 AM Topic: Solar Decathlon, 10/16/09 We got to see the ULL house, and it was very viable. The project was two years in the making and the results are very nice. After a brief walk through, we then went to a tent donated by the DOE where we set up. It was cold outside! I'd say there were about 200 people who came inside the tent for the performance. We started around 4:45 and played until 7pm. Once we found our vans (parked by our Smithsonian friends), we headed to the hotel in Vienna. It did take some time to thaw out!

Arden Guild Concerts, 10/15/09

What a wonderful venue the Arden Guild has! Everything was marvelous, from the food to the performance.  Volunteers cooked a dinner of beef with a marchand du vin sauce, gourmet mashed potatoes and roasted carrots.  After this feast, we had to play music!  Although most of the audience sat through the performance, some did dance. We look forward to the next time we get to play at the Arden Concert Guild. [Posted with iBlogger from my iPhone]
