BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet

Date: January 23, 2010 10:51 PM Topic: January 23, 2010: Townsend Center for the Arts, Carrollton, GA It was a long afternoon and evening at the Townsend Center. We arrived around 2:45 and Michael and Mitchell went straight to the workshop. The rest of us set up the equipment. We sound checked around 4:30 or so and then waited for dinner to arrive. After dinner, we decided to stay at the venue until showtime, which was at 7:30. The event was huge, as this was the Center's fundraiser, all with an after show dance with drinks and finger foods. It was all good, and hopefully we'll be able to come back to Carrollton, GA to perform again. It's always great to be invited to new venues.

It was a sold out show at the Cedar. Though there wasn't much room for dancing, the crowd was receptive and interested. It's always mice to sell out a venue two times in a row; the Twin Cities have always been a good venue for the band. [Posted with iBlogger from my iPhone]

Date: January 1, 2010 9:51 AM Topic: SPACE, 12/31/09 The show was good: lots of people, lots of good energy, dancing, listening, stuff like that. The venue, SPACE, was great and we were treated very well by the staff and crew (which is most of the time!). The venue is actually a restaurant and a recording studio and a performance space all in one. Very interesting. We played two sets, starting at 10:30. The second set began around 11:45 and we all rang in the New Year with champagne. We finished up around 12:55, and believe me, on account of the length of the day, we were all ready to get to the hotel to crash. Happy New Year!

We played the Manship to a sold out crowd. It's a great theatre and the staff and crew are great. It was nice to play again since our last date, which was in early November. We didn't get to party too much after the show, however: early flights in the morning to Chicago. [Posted with iBlogger from my iPhone]

I think it was the band's first trip to the Music Hall, but some say otherwise. Anyway, the show was a double-bill with Iris Dement. Iris played for about 50 minutes and then we hit the stage for an hour and a half. Our special guest was Roswell Rudd. He's simply amazing. The crowd was enthusiastic, and we had a very good time. The Prairie Home show was good: the music was, as usual, well done, and we got to perform 3 songs plus an encore after the radio signed off. We also joined in on 2 numbers with the Shoe Band (with me on Uke). We also found out we'll be on the Western Caribbean cruise in March 2010, departing from Tampa. Cedar Rapids went under the flood waters of the Mississippi in June of '08. The city is trying to rebuild, and you know it's not easy, waiting for insurance and Federal monies. The show was good, with Tom Erickson as an opener, to a crowd of about 114 Cedar Rapids arts fans. The band played a solid hour and 45 minute set. We all hope Cedar Rapids gets back on its feet and that we can come back. [Posted with iBlogger from my iPhone]
