Promotional appearances Redux

Topic: Promotional appearances Redux

Pillot's got us doing so many promotional appearances that it's
becoming way too confusing to keep up.

Bill didn't know that Austin was a freebee: he called to say the club
wasn't providing congas. Well, duh...they're not providing jack shit,
so to speak. So we're spending close to $3k on transportation and
lodging for a YepRoc showcase. I guess the rest of the guys ought to
know this, too.

The 'West Coast' trip is coming together. I call it that because we
end up on the west coast, though we start in Colorado.

I've implemented TripIt.com into our itineraries. It's a handy web-
based application that I can put together all of our travel
information into one place. Now the group can access all of the
travel info, so they don't have to ask me questions. Also, it's
proven to be really handy for me when I book rooms: I can see if I've
made any mistakes.

I don't know: there's a lot of stuff to learn out there, and the stuff
out there is very useful, and I'm getting older, so the more I know,
the easier it'll be to keep on track.

Time to go to work.

Hard day

The Ark gig went well. Good crowd & merch sales. We passed by Elderly Instruments in Lansing on the way to Grand Rapids. Then we hit the road, arriving at the hotel at 3:30. We left for a radio interview/performance at 4:15 at WYCE. After doing 2 songs, we went to the venue, the Ladies Literary Club. Nice place, nice renovation. The last time we played there was April 19, 1997. Packing for the flight to MSP.

The Art Center, Carrboro, NC

Date: August 9, 2009 11:28 AM Topic: The Art Center, Carrboro, NC It was another trip to the Art Center in Carrboro. It's always been a good venue for the group, and this time was no different. Lots of tickets were sold and I think the show was close to a sell out. Instead of playing two sets, which would have increased our merchandise sales, we opted for one long set, one very long set, 2 hours worth. Sometimes I think making decisions like playing a long set isn't always a good idea. It's hard to perform that long, but I do know that it's sets like that which go into the record books. I don't think anyone had a bad time. I do think we wore out the audience, however.

Departure/Feb 13, 2009

Date: February 13, 2009 10:39 AM Topic: Departure/Feb 13, 2009 Today's departure day. It's a huge itinerary, starting in St. Paul, MN and ending up in Blacksburg, VA. Because of scheduling problems, the band is staying out on the road for the duration, instead of returning home for a day at at time. My travel started well but hit a snag in Houston, which was fogged in. ATC had my flight circle Houston for over an hour, so I missed my connection. I was rescheduled for a 9pm flight to MSP, a 5 1/2 hour layover. I did reach the St. Paul Hotel around midnight. Pooped, I went to sleep shortly thereafter.
