Jazz Fest

Topic: Jazz Fest

It's been a busy few days since returning to Louisiana from Knoxville.

The band arrived on Thursday night, flying from Nashville to MSY.

On Friday, we all met up at the Acura Stage for our 12:30 set. Then
we had to sign the Grammy winning CD at the NOJAZZFEST tent.

Then we set up and sound checked at Southport Music Hall. We were the
opener for the subdudes that night. That show went OK and we sold
several CDs.

On Saturday morning, we had a 10:30 set at CC's Coffee House on
Esplanade. We sold several more CDs there and played for about 50
minutes.

Saturday night we played at the Howlin Wolf in Mandeville for a crowd
of about 15 or 20.

Sunday we were rained out at Fest For All in Baton Rouge.

The end of the tour! It's good to be back home and getting some much
needed rest.

The Kate, Old Saybrook, CT, 2/11/18

We played the Kate on a very wet Sunday night. It was our third appearance there and as always, the audience was great and so were the staff.   We played a fairly well-rounded set list, mainly to listeners, as there isn’t much room at the Kate to dance.  It was a good show, and afterwards we sold and signed CDs.  It’s always great to see our fans. I hope it’s not 4 more years until we play there again!

2023 and BeauSoleil

We all made it through COVID, thank God.  We are all looking forward to a new year with great adventures.  We do have two upcoming shows in December: in New Orleans on 12/8, at the Lafitte Greenway and at the Hideaway Dance Hall on 12/11.

MIM- The Musical Instrument Museum, Phoenix, AZ, 1/28/18

The MIM is a very special place: it’s like, in the words of Aaron Neville, the Louvre for musicians. It’s unbelievable how many instruments are collected there.   To perform at MIM is also a special deal.  The sound is really, really good, and the audiences are great.  All in all, bands are treated quite well there, and the after the show Meet and Greet with the audience is always rewarding. For someone who isn’t from the Phoenix area, it seems strange that the museum is so far out of town, but I’m told that it won’t be in the future.  The building is huge and well maintained, just like the instruments inside. We met people from Breaux Bridge and people who have been to Louisiana many times.  We also met people who have tried for years to hear the banned and were able.  I don’t think anyone was disappointed.
