The Shedd, 10/1/9

Topic: The Shedd, 10/1/9

Attendance was a bit low at the Shedd but it was a good concert. As
usual, we were treated well by the OFAM (Oregon Festival of American
Music) folks, and everyone was in good spirits.

The Shedd is an unusual venue: It's a converted hall with practice
rooms and presentation rooms and other features common to schools.
The performance area is a large hall with balcony seating. Although
OFAM generally focuses on the classical arts, the organization also
puts on concerts of popular music. This was the band's third
appearance at the Shedd, and, as I said, we had a good time.

2023 and BeauSoleil

We all made it through COVID, thank God.  We are all looking forward to a new year with great adventures.  We do have two upcoming shows in December: in New Orleans on 12/8, at the Lafitte Greenway and at the Hideaway Dance Hall on 12/11.

MIM- The Musical Instrument Museum, Phoenix, AZ, 1/28/18

The MIM is a very special place: it’s like, in the words of Aaron Neville, the Louvre for musicians. It’s unbelievable how many instruments are collected there.   To perform at MIM is also a special deal.  The sound is really, really good, and the audiences are great.  All in all, bands are treated quite well there, and the after the show Meet and Greet with the audience is always rewarding. For someone who isn’t from the Phoenix area, it seems strange that the museum is so far out of town, but I’m told that it won’t be in the future.  The building is huge and well maintained, just like the instruments inside. We met people from Breaux Bridge and people who have been to Louisiana many times.  We also met people who have tried for years to hear the banned and were able.  I don’t think anyone was disappointed.

Earlville Opera House, Earlville, NY 8/21/15

The Earlville Opera House was another first for the band. This venue is a historic opera house from days gone by.  There were band photos from past groups, and it was nice to see Mitch's old group Charvari had played there in 1995 or so.  The audience was great and danced around the room.  We hope to return again soon!
