McCabe's with Richard Thompson and the Musical Instrument Museum

After Gator by the Bay, we played at McCabe's in Santa Monica.  The show was a lot of fun, as usual.  Richard Thompson was in the crowd and played a couple tunes with us, Conga and Bamiko.  It's always a pleasure to play music with Richard!

We flew to Phoenix on Saturday and played Sunday at the Musical Instrument Museum on Mother's Day. This is an amazing place: instruments from around the world all in one place.  The first time we played here we toured the museum.  After an hour and a half, we had to leave for the hotel but didn't make the complete tour of the instruments.

The show was sold out, and we were treated very well by the staff and the patrons.  We also played a song, Je veux marier, acoustically, which the audience really liked.

Now we're heading home.  Our next performance will be next Wednesday in Birmingham at the Work/Play Theatre.

2023 and BeauSoleil

We all made it through COVID, thank God.  We are all looking forward to a new year with great adventures.  We do have two upcoming shows in December: in New Orleans on 12/8, at the Lafitte Greenway and at the Hideaway Dance Hall on 12/11.

Rhodes on the Pawtuxet Mardi Gras show, Cranston, RI, 2/10/18

We’ve played the Rhodes on the Pawtuxet Mardi Gras show many times. It’s put on by Church Wentworth, who also produces the Ninigret Park Labor Day Festival. It was the 26th year of the Mardi Gras show, and the place was rocking! We played a rousing dance set, and we were followed by Nathan and the Zydeco Cha Chas, old friends and great musicians.

Sellersville Theatre, 2/8/28

It was great returning to Sellersville Theatre! I cannot say how many times we have played there, but I can say that the audience is always great. Not too many danced, so we played more listening type songs, getting used to our new accordion player, Chad Huval. As always, we had dinner next door at the Washington Hotel.  It’s always a good experience there, too: great food and great staff. Playing the Sellersville Theatre was a good start to this short Mardi Gras 2018 tour.
