La Music Factory Part 2

Topic: La Music Factory Part 2

You can tell it's Jazz Fest time: The Factory was packed with fest
goers listening to the Zydepunks before we got to set up and play.

We had a good crowd for being the last act, and I'm always surprised
by our fans.

It seems that this year's Jazz Fest will be a big one.

Today's plan: heading to Wilkesboro for Merlefest.

The Art Center, Carrboro, NC

Date: August 9, 2009 11:28 AM Topic: The Art Center, Carrboro, NC It was another trip to the Art Center in Carrboro. It's always been a good venue for the group, and this time was no different. Lots of tickets were sold and I think the show was close to a sell out. Instead of playing two sets, which would have increased our merchandise sales, we opted for one long set, one very long set, 2 hours worth. Sometimes I think making decisions like playing a long set isn't always a good idea. It's hard to perform that long, but I do know that it's sets like that which go into the record books. I don't think anyone had a bad time. I do think we wore out the audience, however.

Hard day

The Ark gig went well. Good crowd & merch sales. We passed by Elderly Instruments in Lansing on the way to Grand Rapids. Then we hit the road, arriving at the hotel at 3:30. We left for a radio interview/performance at 4:15 at WYCE. After doing 2 songs, we went to the venue, the Ladies Literary Club. Nice place, nice renovation. The last time we played there was April 19, 1997. Packing for the flight to MSP.

The Turning Point, Piermont, NY, 2/9/18

We played the Turning Point on Friday, 2/9.  If you’re not familiar with the place, it’s downstairs from a restaurant, housed in a rather small bar.  John McAvoy, the owner, is quite a character, and he always treats us great.  The place holds 78 max, and I believe there were 85 there! Some day I’d like to see what Piermont looks like in the daylight! We’ve never been able do that.   The audience was very receptive, no dancing allowed (no room), and we played a pretty good ‘sit down set.’ We look forward to our next appearance there!
